With less than a month to go until this year’s Merchant Payments Ecosystem (MPE Berlin 2018), we’re all set for three full days of catching up with other industry leaders, getting the latest insights, and measuring the industry’s pulse to get a glimpse into where we’re heading to.
The 11th edition of MPE Berlin will take place on February 20-22, and promises over 150 distinguished industry speakers, more than 1,000 attendees, covering payments topics such as card acquiring, alternative payments, payment technology online, mobile and in-store. We’ll be meeting merchants, acquirers, POS solution providers, payment processors, innovative FinTechs, schemes, regulators and gateways, basically all industry players in one place, the modern and fascinating German capital, Berlin.
Flashback to MPE Berlin 2017
Looking back at last year – we can say it was a blast, we enjoyed discussing the hot payments topics of the moment and connect the dots, painting the bigger picture of the payments landscape; PSD2 was hot back then as it is today, data science, which has become part of our DNA as a forward-thinking FinTech and payments player, frictionless payments, achieved with the support of the latest technology and ultimately, the need for payment service providers to become Merchant Services Providers, and add more value to their merchants than just processing transactions. For a quick recap, watch last year’s full video report here.
This past edition of MPE Berlin will always bear some special memories for us as we were honored to receive the Best PSP Award together with Acapture.
What’s on this year’s agenda? MPE Berlin 2018
Talking about PSD2, it’s also one of our must-know topics at the moment so our expert on stage will share some great insights regarding how this game-changing regulation is currently shaping online retail. John Snoek, Acapture’s VP Product and Operations, will give a presentation on the future of marketplaces and how this business model will evolve based on the requirements imposed by PSD2. The influence of marketplaces is definitely increasing in online retail and it’s an exciting time for these businesses if they take advantage of it and thrive under the regulation. It will be interesting to see how the market is further reacting to the implementation of PSD2 – will it be perceived as a threat or as an opportunity?
John will also offer advice on what such companies should focus this year. His presentation is scheduled for the first day of the event, Tuesday the 20th of February, starting 16:30. It will be followed by a lively panel discussion. So make sure you don’t miss it!
Apart from PSD2, we’re also contemplating about the different innovative payment technologies that are currently shifting the payments and online retail landscape; AI, machine learning, data science, AR & VR – basically technologies that help both payment providers and merchants offer a seamless customer journey. On this note, our COO, Gijs op de Weegh, together with June Felix, President Europe, Verifone, and Julian Sawyer, Chief Operating Officer, Starling Bank, will share their view on how these technologies impact the landscape as important growth and change drivers. This plenary C-level discussion is planned for Day 1, starting 11:30 AM.
Make sure you secure your spot, as these two sessions are set to be super interesting and inspiring.
What are we excited about this year?
Definitely to see what updates will the event bring to the above-mentioned hot topics. Besides that, we’re super curious and tuned to learn about the main trends for this year. What has changed? Is there a new trend coming up that we haven’t foreseen yet? How have the main challenges merchants are confronted with developed during the past year? And where do the main opportunities lie? It will also be extremely interesting to measure the PSD2 awareness and readiness for the merchants attending the event.
We will make sure we’ll capture all these insights in an exciting video just as the ones we produced in the past years. We’re happy and proud to see that our video reports are so appreciated and they make a great contribution to expanding the knowledge within the payments and online retail industry.
See you in Berlin!
